Around 9:30 am, a bus on route 03A (Gia Lam – Giap Bat) was traveling on Ly Thuong Kiet street in Cua Nam ward, heading towards Ba Trieu.
Just after passing the Quang Trung – Ly Thuong Kiet intersection, in front of house number 42 Ly Thuong Kiet, smoke began to rise from the bus's rear.
Bystanders alerted the driver to stop the bus. The 46-year-old driver pulled over and instructed passengers to evacuate. He attempted to use a mini fire extinguisher, but it was unsuccessful.

Within minutes, flames consumed the entire bus, creating a smoke column tens of meters high. Many pedestrians panicked, attempting to avoid the blaze. Local police and Traffic Police Team No. 1 of the Hanoi Police quickly arrived to block the road and direct traffic.
Upon receiving the report, firefighters dispatched one fire truck and nearly 10 officers to the scene. When they arrived, the fire had already spread throughout the bus. It took police almost 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

There were no casualties reported. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
