Dong Nai plans to relocate eight households precariously situated by provincial road

Facing landslide risks in an area where eight homes are precariously located along provincial road 753, authorities are developing an urgent relocation plan to ensure residents' safety.

This information was announced by Mr. Dinh Tien Hai, Director of the Dong Nai Provincial Construction Project Management Board, on 3/3. The unit will propose advance funding to support the early relocation of the eight households to a safe area while awaiting compensation assessment.

These eight families in Cay Cay hamlet, Tan Loi commune, have been anxious for two months. Road construction lowered the roadbed by nearly 10 m, creating steep earth walls. This has made travel difficult and poses a landslide risk during heavy rain.

According to Mr. Hai, all eight houses are within the land clearance area for the project to upgrade and expand provincial road 753, which connects Dong Xoai with Dong Nai via Ma Da bridge. The current situation arose because adjustments to land plot documentation were not made in time during the project's implementation.

Following a written directive from the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee for an inspection, the Department of Construction, in coordination with the Dong Nai Provincial Construction Project Management Board and Tan Loi Commune People's Committee, conducted a site inspection on the afternoon of 2/3.

The inspection team determined that residents had voluntarily handed over the land for the 9 m road expansion on both sides of the centerline. The affected area is part of the ongoing slope embankment construction.

During the meeting, Mr. Le Cam Tu, Vice Chairman of Tan Loi Commune People's Committee, requested the Project Management Board to promptly provide maps and land plot extracts for acquisition. This would enable the locality to proceed with land acquisition and clearance. He also urged the investor to collaborate with local authorities to ensure residents' livelihoods and address hazardous power poles at risk of landslides.

Relevant departments and agencies are currently reviewing several resident requests, including those for agricultural land leveling and proposals to build houses on agricultural land, in accordance with regulations.

The 13 km provincial road 753 upgrade and expansion project, connecting Dong Xoai with Dong Nai via Ma Da bridge, began in 2023 with a total investment of 480 billion VND. Though initially implemented by the Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee, the project's current management is under Dong Nai. The route begins at Soc Mien intersection (Binh Phuoc ward) and concludes at its junction with Dong Phu - Binh Duong road.
