Ho Chi Minh City gateways congested, Hanoi clear before holiday

Traffic jams at Ho Chi Minh City's gateways, while Hanoi remains relatively clear on the afternoon of 24/4, ahead of the three-day Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday.

At 3 p.m. on 24/4, a significant volume of people and vehicles converged on Ho Chi Minh City's western gateway, leading to traffic congestion stretching over 5 km. The An Lac roundabout saw vehicles moving bumper-to-bumper.

This travel surge precedes two upcoming public holidays. The Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday spans three days, from 25/4 to 27/4. This is followed by the April 30th – May 1st holiday, a four-day break from 30/4 to 3/5. Two regular working days, 28/4 and 29/4, fall between these holiday periods.

Approximately 2 km from National Highway 1A, the Cho Dem bridge area also saw heavy traffic. This route is a popular choice for many to avoid congestion at the western gateway.

In Hanoi, traffic began to increase by 4 p.m. Thousands of vehicles formed long lines on Ring Road 3; however, congestion remained localized.

Ngoc Hoi road, leading to National Highway 1A, experienced dense traffic at its junction with Alley 15 Ngoc Hoi but then moved smoothly out of the inner city.

By 5:30 p.m., the Phap Van – Cau Gie expressway was clear, with vehicles moving freely.
