The project to upgrade and expand road 70 spans almost 5 km, passing through Xuan Phuong and Tay Mo wards, and Son Dong commune. The Tay Mo Ward People's Committee is the investor, with a total capital exceeding 3,377 billion VND. The current road is fragmented, intersected by several main traffic arteries, and mostly features only two lanes. It becomes muddy on rainy days and dusty when dry.
On 19/4, during a project inspection, Vu Dai Thang, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, mandated its completion in 2026, approximately one year ahead of the original schedule.
The project requires the acquisition of over 229,300 square meters of land, with Xuan Phuong ward accounting for 140,885 square meters (61,4%), Son Dong commune 19,554 square meters (8,6%), and Tay Mo ward 68,879 square meters (30%). Site clearance efforts face hurdles related to land origin, the scope of acquisition, and resettlement arrangements, particularly in Son Dong commune, where the proposed resettlement site for affected households has not yet been approved.

Nguyen Thi Lan Hue, a resident of Group 7, Xuan Phuong ward, stated that after being mobilized, her family voluntarily dismantled temporary structures on over 100 square meters of agricultural land to facilitate the road expansion.
Over the past three days, residents of Xuan Phuong ward have moved machinery and belongings, handing over the site in response to government mobilization.

Debris is scattered along both sides of road 70, the section passing through Xuan Phuong urban area, following the dismantling of temporary structures.
The road section through Group 7, Xuan Phuong ward, is narrow; two large trucks can occupy the entire width. For most of the day, vehicles move slowly, and smoke and dust envelop road 70.

Over 500 meters away, the road section from Cau Coc to road 72 (Tay Mo ward) also experiences congestion. According to the plan, the road surface here will be expanded from 10 meters to 40 meters.

Section two, passing through Tay Mo ward, is currently under construction for approximately 600 meters, extending from Nguyen Van Luyen road towards road 70. However, site clearance is hindered in the area around Dai Mo Primary School.
According to the Capital's transportation master plan, road 70 will be divided into two urban axes, ranging from 28 to 50 meters wide, with many sections overlapping the existing road 70. To date, the construction unit has completed 4,45 km. The remaining sections are undergoing investment for expansion, including the longest section of 7 km, which is part of the 2024-2026 investment plan.
