Many tourist routes fully booked for 30/4-1/5 holiday

Booking rates for flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to popular destinations like Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Da Nang have surged for the upcoming holiday, with many flights fully booked and prime tickets nearly gone.

According to a survey by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) on 22/4, travel demand for the holiday period has rapidly increased, with load factors on many tourist routes reaching 80-100%. Numerous flights to key tourist destinations were almost fully booked from the start of the holiday.

Several routes have seen economy class tickets sold out, including Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) - Phu Quoc, HCMC - Tuy Hoa, HCMC - Con Dao, and HCMC - Pleiku. Similar situations were observed for flights from Hanoi to Tuy Hoa, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Dong Hoi. The high demand has led to prime time slots being sold out or only having high-fare classes remaining.

For return journeys, demand for flights back to Hanoi and HCMC gradually increases towards the end of the holiday. Due to two holidays occurring close together, the volume of returning passengers is more spread out but still concentrated on the two peak days of 2/5 and 3/5. Most flights returning to these two major cities have booking rates exceeding 80%, with many flights fully booked.

In contrast, main trunk routes like HCMC - Hanoi have lower load factors, at around 30-50%, offering passengers more choices for flight times during the peak period.

The CAAV reported that average ticket prices, including taxes and fees, for the initial days of the holiday increased by 5-8% compared to a week prior, depending on the route.

Ticket prices for tourist routes increased due to demand. For the HCMC - Da Nang route on 29/4, prices ranged from 2.9-3.5 million VND with Vietnam Airlines, while Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways ranged from 2.1-2.9 million VND. The Hanoi - Da Nang route saw prices of 2.9-4 million VND with Vietnam Airlines and 2.4-3.2 million VND with other airlines.

Routes to destinations like Phu Quoc and Nha Trang continued to have the highest prices. The Hanoi - Phu Quoc route reached a maximum of 5-5.5 million VND with Vietnam Airlines, and 3.5-5 million VND with Vietjet Air. The HCMC - Phu Quoc route typically ranged from 2-3.2 million VND. Flights from Hanoi to Cam Ranh fluctuated between 3.8-4.6 million VND.

On the Hanoi - HCMC trunk route, ticket prices commonly range from 3.8-4.5 million VND. Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways listed the highest prices, from 4.2 to 4.5 million VND; Vietjet Air from 3.5-4.2 million VND; and Vietravel Airlines from 3.6-4.1 million VND. These prices have significantly increased compared to the same period in 2025, especially for prime time slots.

For return flights, ticket prices surged towards the end of the holiday. On 3/5, the Cam Ranh - Hanoi route recorded Vietjet Air's highest prices of 4.2-4.6 million VND, while many flights from other airlines had economy class tickets sold out or only high-fare classes remaining. Similarly, the Phu Quoc - Hanoi route was mostly fully booked in economy class on this peak day.

Meanwhile, routes from tourist destinations returning to HCMC still offer more options, with prices ranging from 2.1 to 3.4 million VND depending on the airline and route, though these have also significantly increased compared to regular days.

This year, Hung Kings' Commemoration Day falls on sunday 26/4, so employees received a compensatory day off on 27/4. Those with a two-day weekend had three consecutive days off from 25/4 to 27/4, while those who only have sunday off had two days off on 26/4-27/4.

For the 30/4-1/5 holiday, those with a two-day weekend will have four consecutive days off from 30/4 to 3/5, while those who only have sunday off will have two days off on 30/4 and 1/5.
