On the morning of 2/1, residents of Quyet Tien hamlet 2, Le Ninh commune, discovered a significant section of asphalt on national highway 9B had unexpectedly crumbled. The collapse revealed a hole, approximately four square meters in area and three meters deep, with exposed earth beneath. Locals quickly placed branches and other objects around the site to warn oncoming vehicles. Fortunately, no accidents occurred.
Later that same morning, Construction Development and Trade 909 Joint Stock Company, a firm responsible for road repair and maintenance, responded to the site. Workers promptly filled the sinkhole with stones and leveled the road surface, providing a temporary fix. Residents noted that despite the lack of heavy rainfall in recent days, this was the first time they had witnessed such a significant road subsidence in the area. The cause of the sudden road collapse is currently under investigation.

National highway 9B spans 67 kilometers and serves as a vital east-west route in the southern part of what was formerly Quang Binh province. It connects national highway 1 at Quan Hau to both the eastern and western branches of Ho Chi Minh road, extending to the Chu Mut - La Vin border gate and facilitating trade with Laos.
