Tractor-trailer overturns, bridge from TP HCM to Dong Nai jammed

A tractor-trailer carrying heavy goods overturned while taking a curve descending Thu Bien Bridge, spilling its cargo and causing a traffic jam on the afternoon of 24/2.

Around 5 p.m. on 24/2, a tractor-trailer carrying MDF wood panels was traveling on Thu Bien Bridge from TP HCM towards Dong Nai. As it descended the bridge in Tan An commune, the driver was navigating a curve on the access road when the vehicle suddenly overturned, sending hundreds of wood panels spilling across the road.

Although the road was clear at the time of the accident, preventing injuries, the overturned tractor-trailer and its cargo completely blocked Thu Bien Bridge, leading to hours of severe traffic congestion.

Authorities quickly arrived to manage traffic, clear the scene, and investigate the cause of the accident.

Thu Bien Bridge, which connects Dong Nai with the former Binh Duong province, is known for a sharp 180-degree curve on its descent. This challenging section has been the site of numerous vehicle rollovers. The most recent incident occurred in 12/2025, when a tractor-trailer overturned, spilling tens of tons of steel that struck a couple on a motorbike.
