Two victims of four-story house fire in Nha Trang die

Two women, aged 42 and 74, a daughter-in-law and mother-in-law, who were trapped in a four-story house fire in the An Binh Tan urban area of Nam Nha Trang ward yesterday afternoon, have died.

Khanh Hoa General Hospital confirmed on 3/9 that upon arrival, both victims showed no signs of circulation or respiration due to carbon monoxide gas inhalation, 2nd-degree burns, and cardiac arrest.

The medical team performed external chest compressions and ventilation via an endotracheal tube. After approximately 20 minutes of resuscitation, both hearts restarted. Doctors then transferred them to a specialized department for continued treatment, mechanical ventilation, and nutritional support.

However, the 42-year-old woman's condition worsened, and her family requested to take her home for funeral arrangements. The 74-year-old victim, who had a history of stroke, passed away this afternoon.

Leaders of the Nam Nha Trang Ward People's Committee visited the family, offered condolences, and provided 50 million VND in support.

The fire broke out at noon on 2/9, on the second floor of a four-story house, approximately 100 square meters in size, located in the An Binh Tan urban area, near Belt Road 2 and Binh Tan Bridge.

The fire spread rapidly, with smoke engulfing the house within minutes. At the time of the incident, six people, including young children, were inside. Four individuals on the first floor managed to escape on their own, while the two women became trapped on the second floor.

Firefighters, collaborating with medical staff from the Khanh Hoa 115 Emergency Center, used specialized equipment to access and rescue the two victims. The blaze was extinguished approximately 5 minutes later.

Authorities suspect the incident was caused by an electrical short circuit.
