On the evening of 16/8, the Toa Kham Tourist Boat Wharf Management Board received a report that an employee on the boat threw beer cans and plastic bottles into the river after docking near the riverside pedestrian path. The boat owner acknowledged the accuracy of the report and committed to rectifying the situation and ensuring it would not happen again.
In addition to the fine, the boat owner must implement remedial measures if the action caused environmental pollution. The deadline for implementation is 10 days from the date of receiving the decision.
Hue authorities also urged businesses, inland waterway transport owners, and workers not to discard trash, plastic bottles, or beer cans into the Perfume River. They also emphasized enhancing the collection, classification, and treatment of waste generated during tourist services.
Boat tourism on the Perfume River is one of Hue's distinctive products, offering visitors the opportunity to view the ancient capital from the water. Departing from Toa Kham wharf, boats take guests past Truong Tien Bridge, Thien Mu Pagoda, and riverside villages. Many boats also combine culinary services with Hue folk singing performances on the river, creating a unique cultural experience for visitors.
