Fines of up to 10 million dong for unauthorized trekking and camping tours at Ba Den Mountain

Individuals and organizations that arbitrarily organize trekking or camping tours at Ba Den Mountain without permission may face fines of up to 10 million dong, according to a warning from the Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area Management Board.

On 19/8, the Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area Management Board, Tay Ninh, issued a written warning advising organizations and individuals not to arbitrarily organize tourism services or conduct business within the forest without the forest owner's permission.

Tran Thi Thu Hang, deputy head of the Management Board, stated that recently, some individuals and organizations have been independently advertising, collecting fees, and guiding tourists for trekking and overnight camping along unauthorized routes.

"The Management Board does not organize, affiliate, or coordinate with any individual or organization to provide these services within the forest under its management", she said, adding that the board will work with authorities to inspect, verify, and address violations.

According to Article 11 of the regulations on administrative penalties in forestry, organizing unauthorized tours or visits in the forest is subject to a fine of 4-6 million dong. Organizing tourism services or business activities in the forest without permission carries a fine of 6-10 million dong.

Hang noted that the mountain terrain includes many rugged areas, and the weather is unpredictable, especially during the rainy season. "Arbitrarily organizing spontaneous adventurous activities not only poses a risk to participants' safety but also negatively impacts forest protection, nature conservation, and complicates rescue efforts in case of incidents", she explained.

Ba Den Mountain, standing at 986 m, is the highest peak in the Southern Region, attracting many young people for weekend treks in addition to the cable car system. In october 2025, trekking activities were temporarily halted due to the impact of typhoon Bualoi, which caused landslides and slippery conditions, before resuming on 12/12/2025 with new regulations.

Currently, visitors are only permitted to use the "Cot Dien" route and the "foot of the mountain – Chua Ba" trail. They must register their personal information at the security checkpoint before starting their journey between 5-11 a.m. The Management Board advises against venturing into dense, overgrown paths and recommends preparing physically, carrying sufficient drinking water, first-aid supplies, and avoiding prohibited substances or flammable items.
