A truck recently collided with a black car on the Ha Noi - Thai Nguyen expressway, near the Yen Binh interchange, causing the car to spin violently and strike the rigid median. The incident occurred on a section of the highway with a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h.
The truck, initially in the lane adjacent to the median, activated its turn signal before quickly changing lanes to the right. It then struck the rear of the black car. The impact sent the car spinning, throwing it onto the median before it slid back onto the road. Fortunately, no other high-speed vehicles were in the lane next to the median at that moment. The extent of injuries and property damage from the collision remains unclear.
This incident underscores the critical importance of safe driving practices on expressways, where vehicles travel at high speeds. When changing lanes, drivers must not only signal but also observe carefully and only proceed when a safe distance is ensured. In this case, the truck driver's rapid lane change suggests a failure to identify the car in the blind spot or a miscalculation of distance and speed. Such reckless lane changes pose a significant risk of causing chain collisions on highways.
