This content is outlined in Decree 245, issued by the Government on 27/6, concerning the extension of deadlines for value added tax (VAT), corporate income tax (CIT), personal income tax, and land rent payments for 2026. Under this decree, tax and land rent payments will be deferred for an additional two to 5 months, depending on the declaration period.
Specifically, businesses and organizations declaring monthly VAT will have payment deadlines extended for liabilities arising from the May to September periods. The tax for the May period must be paid by 20/11 at the latest, while payments for the June to September periods are deferred until 21/12.
For businesses declaring VAT quarterly, payments for the second and third quarters are also extended, to 2/11 and 31/12 respectively. Provisional corporate income tax payments for these two quarters will follow similar deadlines.
For business households and individuals, personal income tax liabilities arising from the May to September periods (or the second and third quarters) are extended with deadlines similar to those for VAT. Separately, land rent payments for one-half of the amount due in the first period of 2026 are deferred until 2/11 at the latest.
The Ministry of Finance previously estimated that the total amount of tax and land rent payments extended under this policy would be approximately 125,000 billion VND. This figure is about 10,000 billion VND higher than last year.
The policy of extending tax and land rent payment deadlines has been applied by competent authorities since 2020 to support the economy. During the 2023-2025 period alone, the total extended amount was nearly 293,000 billion VND.
According to the Ministry of Finance, this measure helps businesses improve cash flow and supplement working capital without reducing state budget revenue estimates. Under the Decree, taxpayers only need to submit an extension request to the tax authority by the deadline for submitting third-quarter tax declarations. Tax and land rent amounts eligible for the extension will not incur late payment penalties.
