On 28/8, Doctor of First Degree Specialization Tran Minh Manh, from the Department of Maxillofacial and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at Thong Nhat Hospital, reported severe eversion of the patient's two lower eyelids. This condition was caused by scar contracture following surgery and was accompanied by conjunctivitis. Doctors performed surgery to release the scar contracture and graft skin to restore the patient's lower eyelids.

To stabilize the grafted area and minimize impact on the incision, doctors performed surgery on one eye at a time. After the first eye recovered and the grafted area stabilized, the patient proceeded with intervention on the other eye. Post-surgery, both lower eyelids are now close to the eyeball, no longer everted. Tearing has ceased, and conjunctivitis is under control. The patient continues to be monitored for graft healing and instructed on eye care.

Previously, the patient underwent cosmetic eyelid surgery at a facility in Dong Nai. When complications occurred, she returned to the beauty facility for examination, but it had already closed.

According to Doctor Manh, eyelid ectropion not only impacts aesthetics but can also damage the ocular surface. When the eyelids do not close completely or rest properly against the eye, the cornea becomes susceptible to dryness, irritation, and infection. Prolonged ectropion can lead to corneal ulcers, scarring, and vision loss.

Doctor Manh advises individuals considering eyelid surgery or other cosmetic procedures to seek treatment at licensed aesthetic facilities. These facilities should employ qualified doctors who meet all necessary surgical requirements to minimize the risk of long-term complications.
