Over 20 people suspected of food poisoning after eating banh mi

More than 20 individuals exhibited symptoms of vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea after consuming banh mi purchased from a local shop in Dien Chau commune.

On the afternoon of 18/4, Dien Chau General Hospital reported that it is currently treating over 20 patients, ranging in ages from 4 to 85, who show symptoms of food poisoning. These patients reside in Dien Ngoc, Dien Tho, Dien Bich, and Dien Hoa communes, formerly part of Dien Chau district. Hospital admissions began on the morning of 17/4 and rapidly increased by that evening, with more individuals still seeking examination this morning.

Patients presented with digestive disorders such as vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea; some cases also experienced high fever.

According to hospital leadership, patients are under close observation and receiving intensive treatment. While some patients have stabilized, they still require continued monitoring due to severe lingering digestive symptoms.

Authorities have inspected the involved business establishment and collected food and patient samples for testing to determine the cause.
