The recall targets Nourishing Hair Care Shampoo (Herba Luxe) and Nourishing Hair Care Conditioner (Herba Luxe). These products, marketed by Dam Thi Tuyen household business in Thanh Hoa and manufactured by Chiko Viet Nam International Co., Ltd. in Phu Tho, were found to have a formula inconsistent with their official product declaration. This discrepancy poses potential health risks to consumers.
Health experts warn that using products with uncontrolled preservatives can lead to allergies, skin irritation, or other unpredictable side effects. Consumers also face long-term health impacts when product ingredients do not align with manufacturer safety commitments. The recalled shampoo and conditioner were advertised to contain natural herbal extracts, promising to cleanse, reduce hair loss, nourish roots, and stimulate growth. A pair retailed for approximately 400,000 VND. The exact number of units recalled is not yet known, however, these products are widely sold.
In response to this violation, Dam Thi Tuyen household business and Chiko Viet Nam International Co., Ltd. are required to issue recall notifications to their entire distribution network. They must accept returned products, then recall and destroy all non-compliant batches.
The Thanh Hoa Department of Health and the Phu Tho Department of Health are tasked with supervising the recall and destruction processes by both entities. They must report their findings to the Drug Administration of Vietnam before 13/8. This action is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Health, which has consistently recalled and destroyed substandard products throughout the year. Recently, 4 types of shampoo containing banned substances were also pulled from shelves. These measures reflect the regulatory agencies' intensified control over the pharmaceutical and cosmetic markets, addressing issues of counterfeit goods, poor quality products, and false advertising.
