Man dies, suspected electrocution from park light pole

After heavy rain, a man was found motionless at the base of a street light pole in Vung Tau ward, suspected to have been electrocuted by a power leak, late on 16/5.

Around 23h30, the victim was discovered by residents lying next to a street light pole, more than 4 m tall, on the sidewalk of Ao Ca Park, opposite 28B Vo Thi Sau street.

Vung Tau ward police and medical teams arrived at the scene, but the victim had already died. He was identified as Le Duy Vinh, 31, residing in Tri An ward, Dong Nai City.

Before the incident, the Vung Tau area experienced heavy rain, lasting over one hour and causing widespread flooding. Following the incident, power was cut in the area to ensure safety. Authorities are currently investigating the cause.

Ao Ca Park, spanning approximately 44,000 m2, is located at the intersection of Vo Thi Sau and Phan Chu Trinh streets. The park draws many residents after a renovation and upgrade project costing over 220 billion dong.

The section of Vo Thi Sau street in front of the park has been widened, with parking lines added, and frequently sees many tourist cars parked.
